Meet Melissa

“Meet Melissa”, a most excellent biography written in the third-person:

Melissa Goulet grew up all over the place, playing Barbies on the patio, wearing her headgear to school, skipping important adolescent social events in favour of reading books, and endlessly willing her figure to “fill out”.

She was always interested in baking and was constantly asked by friends and family to “get in the kitchen”. Knowing her place, Melissa set out on many cookie adventures that turned into cake experiments that turned into wedding triumphs that turned into multiple magazine publications, television appearances and event presentations.

Melissa is an adrenaline junky and loves base-jumping, wrestling gators, cage fighting, big-wave surfing and driving solo in the HOV lane. And while she’s never actually done any of those things (well, except for the HOV lane thing, that’s true), she does do a lot of baking, Instagramming and drinking coffee.

Melissa currently lives in Surrey, BC and spends her time being a mom to her three kids, playing her ukulele and spying on her hubby when he’s in the shower. She feels uneasy with writing her biography and is currently looking for an excuse to eat a chocolate bar.

 Fun Facts:

I am: a wife of 10+ years; an occasional exerciser; from a huge family; a church-goer; a mother of 3 kids; an accomplice; THE self proclaimed Impostor Pastry Chef; a decent ukulele player, addicted to caffeine and dill pickle flavoured chips.

I like: musicals; wearing no earrings; classic rock; pretentious poetry; tea; pencil; my hubbys exceptional backside; small towns; going to costume parties wearing a realistic mustache; comparing moshpit injuries; Canadian accents; ancient history; my kids; heavy blankets; ukulele; sappy romantic novels or YA fiction; fantasy; inventing words; Masterpiece Theatre; old old jazz; long hair; Irish whiskey; fairytales; making lists.

I bake: as a hobby and for enjoyment. Weddings have this nasty habit of trying to ruin my hobby so I take on only the ones that excite me. I rarely bake novelty cakes and strictly avoid anything that requires gobs of dye and glitter; everyone likes to look at those things, no one likes to eat them. My priority is pleasing the taste buds first, if I can please the eyes too then its a bonus.
